Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to begin their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear out of place, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death started the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could enable the party reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them few options but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Seekers and Planners groups.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which players will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
